Thrift Tip: Your local thrift store or vintage shop is your best friend when it comes to looking for your sparkly pieces. They tend to be the easiest to look for because they can be found in every size, color, and category. It’s almost certain you’ll leave out your favorite thrift store with one or more embellished apparel.
Spring 2014 is giving us an all new twist to trends of the past. When it comes to fashion, what goes around comes around. According to Fendi and Proenza Schouler, embellished attire is back! Meaning we can decorate our closets adorned in pearls, lace, sequins, diamonds, and other frivolous jewels and gems. For some (me included), It’s hard to think of embellishments without the thought of your third grade teacher’s Holiday sweaters, but those days are in the past. Modern embellishment is all about contrast. As flashy as some embellishments may be, there are easy tricks and tips to pulling this look off without crossing the line from classy to tacky. The first key is figuring out how to use embellishments as accents as opposed to the central piece of your outfit, much like how you would do with jewelry. Secondly, CONTRAST. The purpose of embellishments is to give a feminine effect. Use the dazzle to tone down leather and outfits with masculine silhouettes. The most important thing to know is: DON’T OVERDO IT. Who needs jewelry and dramatic makeup when you’re outfit is already equipped with all you need to stand out? But as we all know, there are no definite rules to fashion besides be yourself, and these dazzling add-on's give you the opportunity to rock it your way . Whether you want to make a bold statement, or a subtle appearance. This trend will allow you to do just that, making it a perfect look to experiment with. XoXo x Nifty Thrifty AAH! Spring is finally making its way around the corner. For many that means beautiful weather, but for the fashion at heart, that means one thing…NEW TRENDS. As everyone caught on to the bold colors of the previous spring, sugary sweet pastels are gently stepping on the scene. The powdery hues first made their appearance in the 2014 spring collections that appeared in New York Fashion Week. Fashion forward catwalks including Burberry, Prada, and Chanel strutted mint greens, lovely lavenders, and cotton candy pinks; demonstrating that there are plenty of ways to jazz up pastels to look feminine and sexy in these soft shades. Thrift Tip! When thrifting for the perfect pastel piece don’t be discouraged if you can’t find it on the first try. Most thrift stores are color coordinated. If this is the case for the thrift store near you, pastels will be around the colors of the same family. When you find the right piece, it’ll definitely be worth the search! How To Rock This Look: Pastels hues are the quiet colors in the spectrum. Don’t be afraid to roughen them up with some bold metallic such as silver and gold, chunky accessories. Want the runway effect? Perhaps calm down boxy silhouettes with a baby blue, and what better way to wear pastels than with other pastels? The remarkable thing about pastels is that they don’t get overwhelming when worn together. Baby blue looks amazing with coral, and mint green is to die for when paired with a baby pink. Play around with the combinations to see what color combinations you fall in love with. The more, the merrier. xx Vintage Vogue xx Everyone say HI to Trent Patterson our newest tagged model. Tailored MadeAdd a little sexy to your look~ instead of going the traditional route, I paired the blazer with a mesh shirt. informal formalSometimes the formal look can be restricting. When I found this shirt and cardigan on the rack in the thrift store, it just screamed "pair us". This is a very comfortable and casual look with a hint of sophistication(I suppose lol). Goodwill HuntingIn our silly mode- I am all about wearing something the wrong way. Sometimes the pattern on the inside of something is way better than the outer layer. Trent loves plaid items. He couldn't wait to switch this plaid vest inside out. Want to be featured?
